2017 is here and in this calendar year:
I hope that I’ll learn even more than I did last year.
My blogging started in 2015, when I wasn’t really sure who I was. I was searching for myself. I joined clubs/organizations throughout the year such as Sigma Phi Epsilon, FASET, FTK, SBA, Georgia Tech Sports Business Club, etc. I’ve met so many new people throughout the year that have made me appreciate where God has placed me. I’m forever grateful for the opportunities I’ve had, the people I’ve met, and the hardships that I’ve had to encounter along the way. Here are just a few things that I can name that those clubs, people, and events have taught me.
They’ve taught me to take Responsibility.
Everyone has priorities and everyone is on their own schedule so don’t expect anybody to make sure you’re on time to your meeting, or prepared for your presentation because that is nobody’s responsibility except yours. Things as small as making my bed in the morning (I still sometimes forget), or taking a dog out to go to the restroom every once in awhile, or paying unexpected bills, making unexpected trips, moving apartments, etc.
They’ve taught me to have Humility.
Accomplishments are great, and sometimes I don’t understand why people don’t share their accomplishments with the world like someone would with their newborn, but I realized that you aren’t doing these things for anybody except yourself. That should be enough. You should definitely be proud of what you’ve done, but there are two ways of being proud, humble & arrogance.
They’ve taught me to be Diligent.
Whatever it may be, hard work will end in results. One of my good friends helped me throughout the semester with accounting and I couldn’t be more grateful for his hard working attitude to help me with whatever I was dealing with, from jobs, homework, to personal troubles. He was always there for whatever and there’s no shot that I would’ve had it any other way.
They’ve taught me to Trust God.
You don’t know what will happen next. You don’t know what tomorrow holds. You don’t know what his plan is, but he’s got one, I promise. Yeah, you’ve heard that a million times before, and will probably hear it a million times again, but it’s true. Here is a post that I think will help you understand — Quit telling me God has a plan.
Something pretty great that comes with trusting God, is:
Feelings are normal, don’t hate that God made them, rejoice that we CAN feel. I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I have it all figured out, no. But I will tell you that I’ve experienced his love in ways that are unexplainable which only makes me want to share that. I was trying to find solace in so many things, but nothing can fill God’s place, trust me. Don’t learn the hard way. I’ve prayed for peace everyday this past Christmas break. So many things have happened that there is no way that I would’ve been able to handle it on my own.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
I have been a Christian for 6 years now, and God has worked in my life the most this past year, why? Your guess is as good as mine, but his timing is always impeccable.
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
– Ephesians 5:1-2
That ^^^^^ That is what I want to learn more of this year. I want to learn how to imitate God, I want to learn how to walk in love; I want that.
And that, is what happened in 2016. There’s no telling what 2017 holds.
I found myself.
I’m a child of God.
